Brian May signature tone.

Burns Trisonic Pick-ups now available click here to find out more.

With his home made guitar and small Vox amp Brian May has become a hallmark in serious guitar tone that few imitated. This is a tone that many of the guitarist I speak to have shown a great interest in achieving.
The obstacles that stand in the way for most guitarists trying to get the Brian May tone are the items that are not easily obtained such as the Burns Trisonic pickups or the RangeMaster pedal, that is virtually non-existent. If you are fortunate enough to have one of the Brian May signature guitars built by Guild then you're halfway there. But if you don't own one you can simply drop in a pre-wired pick guard assembly with the Trisonics already in them. The guitar is an extremely important part of the tone configuration.
The RangeMaster is a pedal that was produced by Dallas Arbiter in the 60s. They are virtually impossible to find. When is the last time you found one or even realized they were in existence? The fact is this is an extremely important part of the Brian May tone.  This is a completely hand built item with point to point parts construction. This type of construction is much more reliable then a printed circuit board construction. In order to preserve the integrity of the tone the pedal creates, a Geranium transistor and carbon comp resistors are used in the circuit design. All of the components are as they were in the original with the addition of an adjustable gain control and an LED indicator for on and off mode. A true bypass switch is also used to provide an unaltered path for the guitar signal when the pedal is switched off. (Discontinued Item)
The AC30 is the last part of the Equation. An original JMI series AC30 is an excellent choice. With a total and thorough rebuild or electrical servicing, these amps are extremely reliable and dependable. More dependable then anything you could buy. This is something we offer with all of our AC30's that are sent through the Plexi Palace Service Shop.
The AC30 is rich with Harmonic content. This is only intensified when used in conjunction with the RangeMaster pedal. Allowing the AC30 to operate in the over load region is also important. This can also become extremely loud. To Maintain comfortable volume levels simply insert the THD Hotplate between the amplifiers output wire terminals and the speakers. All levels of volume can be achieved with he amp in total maximum operating conditions.

We are dedicated to helping you obtain the elusive sounds that are necessary to set you apart from the buzzy chain saw sound that anyone can buy off the shelf in every music store throughout the world.
